The Spaces

The Sheldon Store Property includes the main floor, the upstairs event space, and a house next door.

The Store's Main Floor

The main floor is where we envision the café. The original counters and shelving from the general store are still intact, and lend a warm, homey atmosphere to the space. It has a front entrance from the porch, and a back entrance which will have a ramp.

The Rupert Village Trust will lease out the space to a café operator, which could be a for-profit or non-profit entity. There is plenty of room in the back for a commercial kitchen.

The Upstairs Event Space

This fascinating former grange hall spans the entire length of the building, and can be used as one space or two, divided by ceiling-high folding doors. We hope to restore the original curved staircase that leads to a separate entrance on the porch.

Eventually we will install a lift in order to make this space accessible to everyone.

The House

The house next door to the store is on the same property, so it is also now owned by the Rupert Village Trust. Our plan is to make it into three to four spaces that could be rented for offices or studios.

This house once had a wrap-around porch, which me may restore. Having a few small businesses in the house will add to the revitalization of the Village Center.
